(PHILADELPHIA) — January 6, 2022 — Supporters and the family affected by a large fire plan to hold a candlelight vigil on Jan. 6, 2022 at 6:30 PM at Bache-Martin School located at 812 N. 22nd Street. At least 12 people were killed, including eight children, early Wednesday morning on the 800 block of North 23rd Street.

The city is coming together to show their support for the family as they navigate through such a devastating loss. A local business, Dream Team Décor, is just one of the entities connecting with the family to get resources together for the candlelight vigil and beyond. The offices of Sen. Sharif Street, Sen. Nikil Saval, Rep. Donna Bullock, and Rep. Danilo Burgos have joined together to see how they can assist the family in both the short term and long term.

While efforts to assist the family go in motion, many are shocked. Isaiah Brown’s cousins were among those who died. “They’re babies, man. Young children. They didn’t even get to experience life,” Brown said.

The family has asked people bring purple, white, blue, or pink balloons for the vigil.
